Clyde Beats: People – “Serve It Up feat. Capitol A”

Every track has a story. And in Clyde Beats: People, it’s the people behind the music who take centre stage.

In this episode, Clyde Beats explores the making of “Serve It Up feat. Capitol A” — a rich blend of broken beat, rap and soul, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Capitol A and Jane Hamilton. But the story runs deeper than the groove.

This track came to life thanks to a group of creative collaborators and moments that shaped its sound. From producers and vocalists to chance conversations, each person left a mark. And, as for the remixes, well…

Clyde Beats’ Arrest: When British Hip Hop Got Too…

In a spicy turn of events, British hip-hop producer Clyde Beats, known for his provocative, bass-heavy tracks, was recently arrested in Putian, China. His crime? Making music so un-syncopated, sensual, and ridiculously indulgent that it apparently violated local decency laws—or so the authorities claim.

On tour and crafting his newest EP, Clyde didn’t realise that his latest track, “Dumplingz” would cause such a stir. Featuring pulsating basslines, suggestive moans, and samples of wok-fried noodles, the track became infamous overnight. Locals reported the beats were so hot and heavy, it was “like being seduced by a plate of Mapo tofu.” Police were soon on the scene, responding to complaints that Clyde’s music was making people “uncomfortably aroused and weirdly hungry” all over town.

When officers entered Clyde Beats studio, they found him deep in the zone, layering steamy vocals over the rhythmic thumps of what sounded like chopsticks clinking against porcelain. One baffled officer reportedly said, “It’s like he’s trying to turn a dim sum restaurant into a nightclub.”

Taken into custody, Clyde Beats was charged with “over-stimulating the senses.” During the trial, even the judge seemed overwhelmed, saying, “This is a bit too much—one minute you’re craving hotpot, the next you’re thinking about… well, something else entirely. Cough, cough.”

Now released on police bail, Clyde Beats is enjoying his newfound fame. Want to hear the beats that got him in trouble? Check out his website at www.clydebeats.co.uk and listen to all his latest music, including Hyper Reality 2: An English Gentleman (out now on Atjazz Record Company) on Bandcamp: tinyurl.com/IamClydeBeats. But be warned: these tracks might make you sweat—and not just from the spice.

Wonky Beats and Spicy Streets: The Sonic Journey of…

Born and raised in the UK, Clyde Beats was never one for the ordinary. From a young age, he gravitated toward the unconventional, the bizarre, and the beautifully chaotic. His journey through music began with the broken rhythms of old vinyl records his father collected, a jumble of sounds that twisted and turned in ways that spoke to his soul. But it wasn’t until he found himself in the heart of Putian, China, that his music truly found its voice.

Putian was a world away from the grey skies of Derby. The city was a vibrant tapestry of life, a sensory overload that pulsed with the energy of a place caught between ancient traditions and rapid modernization. Clyde had come for a change of scenery, but he stayed for something far deeper—the food, the culture, and the strange, unexplainable connection he felt to the city.

Every morning, Clyde would begin his day with a meditation session, sitting cross-legged on the floor of his small apartment, the sounds of the bustling street below filtering through his window. He focused on his breathing, letting the chaotic world around him fall away until there was nothing but the rhythm of his heartbeat and the pulse of the city outside.

After meditating, he would venture out to the local markets, where the air was thick with the scent of spices and sizzling street food. Clyde had developed a taste for the fiery heat of Sichuan peppercorns and the tang of fermented tofu, dishes that made his mouth tingle and his head swim. He believed the intensity of the flavours sharpened his senses, opening his mind to new sounds and rhythms.

Back in his apartment, Clyde would sit at his makeshift studio—a cluttered corner of his living room filled with instruments, old vinyl records, and tangled cables. He would begin to create, pulling sounds from the depths of his mind, from the streets of Putian, and from the pounding in his chest after a particularly spicy meal. His beats were wonky, and off-kilter, a blend of traditional Chinese instruments and glitchy, distorted synths that seemed to defy logic.

There were moments when the intensity of it all became too much—when the burning in his stomach from too much spicy hotpot mixed with the overwhelming rush of creativity, and he would have to stop, his head spinning, his stomach churning. More than once, he found himself running to the bathroom, vomiting up the very essence of his process, a strange, almost ritualistic purge of everything that was holding him back.

But Clyde didn’t see it as a setback. To him, it was all part of the journey, a necessary release that allowed him to dig deeper, to push the boundaries of what his music could be. He would return to his instruments, hands shaking, head still buzzing, and begin again.

The music that emerged from these sessions was unlike anything anyone had heard before—raw, chaotic, and beautifully imperfect. It was as if Clyde Beats had channelled the very essence of Putian into his beats, capturing the city’s soul in every wonky rhythm and offbeat drop. His tracks quickly gained a following, first in the underground scene in China, and then internationally, as word spread of the eccentric British producer living in the heart of a Chinese city, creating sounds that defied categorisation.

Clyde Beats became a name known for its originality, its boldness, and its refusal to conform. And while his process might have been unorthodox—meditating until he was one with his instruments, consuming food so spicy it made him sick—it was undeniably effective. Clyde Beats had found his voice, and it was as wild, unpredictable, and beautifully wonky as the city that had inspired it.

Clyde Beats Hyper Reality 2 Roll Call News

Clyde Beats – Hyper Reality 2 – Players and…

Hyper Reality 2: An English GentlemanA short blog listing all of the personnel who contributed towards Clyde Beats ‘Hyper Reality 2: An English Gentleman’.

When one considers the immense talents who committed to this project, there’s little wonder it’s an album I feel so proud of.

Here are the main players…

Atjazz

The man who inspired me to sing and who taught me how to layer my vocals in the first place. We share very similar musical values and have produced some great tracks together. An accomplished keyboard player, you’ll hear his Rhodes licks in places and his extensive studio engineering skills all across this album.

Peacey

Another long-time friend. We’ve shared the good times and the bad times and these can be heard in our two collaborative works on this album.

Jane Hamilton

This brilliant talent and overall quality person blessed my first album with some very memorable writing and performances. I’m elated to have her on my follow-up album. Her appearances on this LP are some of her best works, in my humble opinion.

Octavio N. Santos

What began as a radio drop for his show back in the day resulted in some stellar horn features across my album, as well as a song he wrote the rap for and spat on, too!

AMALIA

Having followed her Tokyo Dawn career and then experiencing her collaboration with Atjazz, having the opportunity to work with AMALIA was one I jumped at!

OVEOUS

Drawn to my attention through his work with Atjazz, OVEOUS is another artist I feel privileged to have worked with.

Magic Number

Although I’ve known him for many, many years, it wasn’t until COVID hit that we were joined together musically. Ross’ bass playing is ‘OK’, so I thought I’d help the chap out and have him on a track or two on “Hyper Realty 2: An English Gentleman”. He has yet to thank me.

Jakka Blades

Introduced through label mate and long-time friend, Si Tew, I was pleasantly surprised by what rap talent Derby had to offer. Jakka Blades came to a session with his twin brother and they both tore the mic up.

Manny Marko

Jakka’s twin, Manny brought a different energy to the studio and I’m glad to have met these very similar, yet different twin emcees.

DJ Hudson

The Derby energy and the force are strong in this one. Alex is a very familiar Derby face who DJs incredible sets around the city and beyond. When he agreed to perform the cuts on two of my album tunes, I was properly made up.

Jabba Tha Kut

Since we’re talking of ‘the force’ and we’ve spoken of Jakka and Manny, they connected me with Jabba Tha Kut. Jabba delivered two stunning turntable performances on the album.

Other Players

A shout out to Stuart from Subism for turning my album artwork concept into a polished end-product.

And last but not least, quite a few people were involved in the writing of this album who don’t feature directly on it. Those people were the ones who took me on journeys of life, love and all of them, learning. Thank you for the bad times and the good times. All of them made me ‘Better’.

And there we have it! These are the outstanding individuals who form the synergy of Clyde Beats ‘Hyper Reality 2: An English Gentleman’, available through Atjazz Record Company via all leading music sites here: https://orcd.co/arc247ad.

Clyde Beats - Hello World feat. OVEOUS News

How Clyde Beats Wrote Hello World featuring OVEOUS

Clyde Beats - Hello World feat. OVEOUSIn the quaint streets of Derby, UK, despite his British roots, Clyde Beats packed his bags and traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for the bustling streets of Shenyang, China, where he set up his ‘Laboratory of Beats‘. Some believe the Communist Party of China might have partially funded this.

One fateful night, amidst the neon glow of Shenyang city (Zhong Jie, so be precise), Clyde Beats found himself struck with a wild idea: to create the toughest, scariest hip-hop tune the world had ever heard, yet that it be as beautiful as it was nasty. And so, with a twinkle in his eye and a skip in his step, Clyde Beats got to work.

His secret weapon? The infamous jerk beat or wonk beat (call it what you will) – a rhythm so erratic, it could make even the most seasoned dancers break a sweat and in some cases, fit. With each thumping bassline and thunderous drumbeat, Clyde Beats unleashed a sonic storm unlike anything the world had ever experienced.

But what’s a terrifying tune without a touch of tranquillity? Enter OVEOUS, the enlightened rap guru whose flow was as peaceful as a Zen garden. With his silky smooth rhymes, OVEOUS added a layer of serenity to Clyde’s cacophony of chaos, creating a juxtaposition that left listeners scratching their heads in awe.

And now, dear reader, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. “Hello World featuring OVEOUS“: the spine-chilling collaboration between Clyde Beats and OVEOUS, is available for streaming and download on all major platforms courtesy of Atjazz Record Company. Get ‘Hello World featuring OVEOUS‘ HERE!

So, what are you waiting for? Dive into the madness and embrace the fear. But feel the love at the same time. Just don’t blame us if you find yourself sleeping with the lights on tonight!

Clyde Beats Sang That? News

Clyde Beats Remixed, Sang On and or Wrote These?…

Introducing the one, the only, the musical maestro extraordinaire – Clyde Beats! If you haven’t heard of him yet, well, buckle up, because you’re in for a ride through the wild world of beats, tunes, and downright wonkiness.
Picture this: a man with an Akai S3000 in one hand and a coffee mug in the other, feverishly tapping away at his computer, concocting beats that could make even a stone statue break out into hives. Yes, that’s Clyde Beats for you – part musical genius, part caffeine-fueled wizard.

But little do some people know some of the tunes they know and love were either co-written, sung on or remixed by Clyde Beats. There are a few notable examples in the playlist featured below.

Let’s start with his writing prowess. Legend has it that Clyde Beats doesn’t write music; he summons it from the depths of his soul/hell (select as appropriate), where melodies frolic with harmonies and lyrics dance with rhythm. His pen is (note the space between s and p, please) mightier than any sword, crafting stories that tug at heartstrings and get necks snapping simultaneously.

But wait, there’s more! Clyde Beats doesn’t just write music; he sings it too. Picture a voice that’s smoother than butter melting on a hot pan, with a range that could make Mariah Carey jealous (Note to author: Tone this down, perhaps). Whether he’s belting out ballads or serenading with soulful tunes, Clyde Beats vocals are like a warm hug for your ears.

Now, onto production. They say behind every great artist is an even greater producer, and Clyde Beats is no exception. Except he’s his own producer. In fact he does a lot of things himself in the privacy of his apartment. But anyway… Armed with nothing but a laptop and a dream, he transforms raw sounds into sonic masterpieces. From hip-hop to house, groove to… other stuff, there’s no genre Clyde Beats can’t conquer with his production prowess.

And let’s not forget about remixing. Clyde Beats takes already amazing tracks and sprinkles them with his own special blend of hot sauce/musical madness, turning good songs into absolute gems. It’s like he has a secret recipe for turning musical gold into platinum. It’s Lauganma. But don’t tell anyone.

Peacey - Play It By Ear News

Peacey – Play It By Ear

Music is like buses to me in 2024. In a very positive way, not like being expensive, late and full of unpleasant people. No, quite the opposite: as in when you wait and wait for something, then three things come along at once.

I enjoyed working with Peacey on two tracks that feature on his debut album, Play It By Ear, which is out now through Atjazz Record Company. The album is astoundingly good and is clearly produced by a seasoned music maestro. There are some superb featured artists (along with me, of course), insane programming and production, and the result is a long player that will weather extremely well.
